Glutton®, the success story of a Belgian leader in street cleaning

SA Lange Christian was created back in 1988, when its main business was motorised garden equipment.

Here are some important milestones along our journey:

1988

SA Lange Christian is created, mainly selling motorised garden equipment.
1994

The decision is made to develop an urban waste vacuum cleaner as a way of mitigating the seasonal nature of garden-related activities and to meet the growing demand from towns and cities in terms of street cleaning.
1995

The prototype Glutton® is presented at the BEST environmental trade fair in Namur.
1996

The first Glutton® street vacuum cleaners are delivered in Belgium and France.
1998

The company wins the economic prize of Namur province, rewarding Christian Lange for his innovation and export success.
2001

A proper assembly line is installed and opened to improve Glutton® production capacity and quality.
2007

The company relocates to a new factory in Andenne (Sclayn) and the electric Glutton® enters series production.
2010

Glutton® wins the Wallonia Export Award for its dynamism and its international success: Glutton® now has a presence in 48 countries and 2500 towns and cities across the world. Major drive to boost exports.
2012

Glutton® is one of the "Trends Gazelles 2012" of Namur province as a company in rapid growth. Glutton® now has a presence in 52 countries and more than 4000 towns and cities on all five continents.
2016

Glutton® has a presence in 60 countries and 5000 towns and cities, putting a smile on the face of residents and users. The size of the team increases to 55.
20 June 2017

In a world first, Glutton® presents Glutton® Zen® – a new 100% electric street sweeper – to its customers, suppliers, partners and the press.

21 August 2017

Now growing strongly, the company breaks ground in the Mécalys business park, where a new ultra-modern 7000 m² factory will be built.
21 November 2017

The Glutton® Zen® is unveiled for the first time in France at the SMCL (a French local government trade fair) in Paris.
14 May 2018

Glutton® Zen® is presented at the IFAT trade fair in Munich. For the first time, street cleaning managers from the largest cities in the world get an exclusive look at the Glutton® Zen® street sweeper.
2018

The company moves into a new ultra-modern 7000 m² factory. Glutton® currently has 94 employees and is restructuring the workforce to remain the leading player in street cleaning.
